Error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server

I oftentimes encounter this specific error when I try to connect to my SQL server.

"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005,
this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)"

Possible cause would be your SQL Service isn't running.

To fix this - check the SQL service under the Services.msc if it is actively running. If not enable it. This will let you log into your local server with ease.

Interesting blog you got here. I'd like to read a bit more about this topic. The only thing it would also be great to see on this blog is a few pictures of any gizmos.
